How to Use AI Automation in Digital Marketing
AI can assist with selected marketing tasks, but a useful workflow begins with a specific problem, appropriate data and a person responsible for the result. These examples are starting points to evaluate, not claims of guaranteed savings or campaign performance.
Handle enquiries with a human fallback
An assistant may help classify enquiries or suggest a draft reply. Keep the original request available, route uncertain or sensitive questions to a person and review messages before making commitments. Set expectations about response times and test what happens when an integration fails.
Organise research and content
AI can suggest groupings for customer questions or draft an outline from a brief. A reviewer should check the original sources, correct errors and add relevant expertise. Google’s guidance focuses on useful, accurate content; generating many pages without adding value can create problems.
Support campaign analysis
A tool may summarise approved campaign data or flag changes for investigation. Verify totals, date ranges and tracking before acting. A model’s prediction is an estimate based on its data and assumptions, not an exact forecast of who will buy or how much a customer will spend.
Plan email workflows responsibly
A simple workflow can organise an approved follow-up or remind a team to review an enquiry. Explain what subscribers can expect, respect consent and provide a working unsubscribe route. Send-time suggestions depend on the platform and data available; they cannot identify a universally perfect time.
Protect information and access
Before connecting an AI service, review the provider’s current data-handling terms, retention and permissions. Avoid entering credentials or confidential client information without an appropriate basis and controls. Use the minimum access needed, keep a manual fallback and require approval for publishing, sending or spending.
Start with a small test
Record the current process and choose a low-risk task with a clear owner. Test with non-sensitive sample data, compare outputs with the original information and record errors, review time and maintenance effort. Expand only after the workflow proves useful in your own context.
